We managed to go shopping six times in a week, I think that’s a record even for me. My wonderful boyfriend took me on a surprise trip away to a lovely cottage in Holmfirth. We spent several nights here, stopping off in Leeds on the way to visit their Christmas Market, and for a little shopping. Christmas markets are the best to really get you in the festive mood and they feel so magical. The scent of cinnamon, mulled wine, doughnuts and all of the most delicious festive foods are wonderful as you walk around, with the bright lights and wooly hats. This is just my favourite time of year. From Leeds we drove to the cottage where we were greeted with homemade meringue & chocolate (all gluten and dairy free) and a lovely hamper with lots of yummy treats. After having a good look around we visited a lovely pub nearby, it was a few minutes walk from where we were staying and had the most relaxing atmosphere. With food done we couldn’t wait to have a soak in the hot tub.

The next day, after a long lie in, we decided to go for a walk. We were very close to the peak district, however the rain was persistent and instead we went for a drive and saw the beautiful views from inside the car, warm and dry. Tonight was the night for my birthday meal, Kieran planned for us to go to a restaurant called Catch, a suitably named seafood restaurant.

Thursday was my birthday so we spent the morning in bed opening presents and Kieran made me breakfast in bed. After getting ready we headed back to Leeds for some more shopping. This is when I did the majority of the shopping, and most was from H&M. Due to their Close the Loop scheme I had quite a few vouchers, which I had absolutely no trouble with spending. The first thing I picked up here was this black skirt, I first spotted this in the H&M in Hull but didn’t really have time to try it on. It’s one of those items where I knew I’d either really love it or hate it when I tried it on. And I fell in love with it the second it was on, several months ago I’d been looking for something similar. Plus, as if I wasn’t in love with this skirt enough already, after wearing it the first time and realising it had pockets (sad I know) it’s definitely (one of) my favourite items at the moment, along with pretty much everything else I bought that week hah. Plus all of the tops I bought this week go with it, it’s so easy to make several different outfits with. I’ve actually considered buying another… I originally bought it with this black collared shirt because I thought this made a cute outfit.

Kieran’s scarf, which I had bought him the previous Christmas, was hung around my neck keeping me so cosy and warm in the wintery ice cold wind. While in House of Fraser we spotted the ladies Barbour scarfs and I decided to purchase my own, I decided on this beautiful deep red tartan. Kieran quickly had his scarf back and I was wrapped in a comforting mix of lambswool and cashmere.

On Friday I had a shopping day with mum in Hull and bought yet another coat, I can’t help myself they’re just so easy and lovely to buy. This winter I was going to try not to buy another but I just fell in love with it and it fit so well (the petite version of course). Feeling the cold I was searching for warm cosy clothing without really realising. From H&M (again!) I bought some comfy socks, a grey fleecy lined hoodie and lots of pyjama shorts – something I love lounging in, you can’t ever really have too many pairs of comfy shorts! F&F have a lovely clothing range and I found a nice top here, I also recently bought a black denim jacket which has a lovely faux fur lining.

The Leeds Christmas market was lovely and we wanted to visit more so found ourselves on the way to York Christmas market on Sunday – Any suggestions on which we should visit next?

York wasn’t really a planned shopping trip but I bought a couple of things from Boots including some NYX lingerie lipsticks, I’ve been wanting to try these for a while but the Boots near me doesn’t stock them. The shades I bought were ‘Push Up‘ and ‘Bedtime Flirt’. There were also offers on the nail polishes too so I bought Essie ‘Go with the flowy‘ from their new winter collection and the Essie Gel Setter Top Coat. Clearly a random addiction awoke in me and also bought the Revlon Colorstay Gel Envy in ‘Hold ’em‘ along with the Diamond Top Coat. Aaand from Superdrug I bought the Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in ‘Café Au Lait‘.

I didn’t take many photos while we were away, and I’m struggling to upload the ones I did take:(, as I was enjoying spending time together and living in the moment. I felt truly spoilt and so lucky to have the people in my life that I do. My favourite thing has definitely been having a break from everything with no to-do lists (as much as I love them) and getting to spend a lot of time with the people I care about most <3
