Hvar is a must for anyone wanting to be surrounded by beautiful scenery and a vibrant night life. The island lies off the coast of Split in Croatia and is easily accessible by ferry. Carpe Diem is open for drinks day and night with great music. The island has a latin feel to it sharing an Italian influence with its greek cousins. There are many surrounding islands too in the Adriatic worth a visit and boat rentals aren’t expensive.
Inverness is a lovely city in Scotland with a massive old castle and plenty of bars and distilleries to visit. Students are in abundance here too with the University having a great reputation. You can also fly to here from Manchester!
Berlin is huge! The city has two distinct sides with West Berlin being very modern with tall buildings and East Berlin being very rustic and more quirky. This is a great place for a city break with lots of history and the olympic stadium close by! I’ve been recommended to visit the Brandenburg Gate, The Olympiastadion and the TV Tower due to their history and architecture.
Munich is really well known for Oktoberfest, which actually starts in September! If you want to take your other half away for a surprise weekend, this is the place. It has great history, loads to do and the people of Munich have a great reputation for their hospitality.
Verona is full of history in Italy, close by to Venice with loads to do. Theres an old Amphitheatre and a church where Romeo and Juliet were supposed to have got married! The famous balcony from the play is here too so its a must go place for any couple.
Florence is one of the prettiest cities in Europe, full of life and well known for its ties to Leonardo Da Vinci. The church is especially somewhere worth note. Santa Maria Del Fiori is one of the best known landmarks in Italy and a must do for any visitors.
Milan is a shoppers paradise with the majority of top designer brands in the world having a shop here. Gucci, Versace and Armani to name a few. The churches are beautiful too and you can even keep your boyfriend entertained by sending him to the San Siro for football to buy you those extras hours you need to try on more clothes!
Portugal is beautiful. I’d love to travel to the Algarve coast near Albufuera. Vale Do Lobo has some beautiful restaurants and Vila Moura port close by lets you take in the local scenery whilst enjoying the fresh seafood.
Dublin is a great weekend away and a must for anyone wanting to get away from the UK for cheap. A quick ferry from Liverpool or a flight from most airports will set you on a great journey in the streets of Dublin. I really wanted to visit love lock bridge but because of the weight of the locks damaging a public landmark they now remove the locks.
Kraków is one of Polands prettiest cities it is also a very historic place, there are many attractions you can visit to learn about the history of Poland. Kraków is famous for its abundance of eateries, the restaurants here will cater for all tastes. Italian influence is reflected upon their local traditions and it is easy to stay away from fast food while eating out here.
All of the views look amazing in Santorini, the white buildings are just beautiful. The scenery is gorgeous and you can get around the full island in a day by renting a quad bike. This is definitely on my bucket list of places to visit. There are great hotels as basic or lavish as you’d like but I’d like to relax in an infinity pool overlooking the Aegean Sea with a cocktail. The surrounding islands Ios and Mykonos are just a ferry ride away too and supposed to be great destinations for europeans in the summer.
Is there anything you’d recommend to do in any of these places & have you ever been to any of them?
In the last few years I’ve visited Australia & Iceland – very different holidays but I absolutely loved them both! In Australia I visited Cairns, Townsville and Mckay, in Iceland we stayed in Reykjavik.
This was on my Uncles land in Mackay, he owns the business Forest Flying, which is an amazing experience. It’s like a giant zip wire running through the top of the forest where you can see everything, like the fruit bats, up really close. You can also slow yourself down if you would like and even stop if you want to stop and take a closer look or picture.
Iceland was a very different holiday, I went here with my boyfriend & friends over new years. Although Iceland is a small country there is plenty to do and so many amazing things to see. My absolute favourite thing here was definitely the blue lagoon. On new years eve the fireworks display near the church was amazing and went on for hours.
I haven’t been abroad since Iceland but have been enjoying weekends away in the UK.
Where are you travelling to next? x
